UNITED WE STAND

March 1959: A group of brave men cross the Himalayan range escaping from Tibet, following an uprising against the Chinese invasion 10 years earlier by the communist army. Bhusang, 29 yrs old at that time, is one of the men escorting the Dalai Lama in fleeing his beloved homeland to seek shelter in nearby India, ruled at that time by the moderate Prime Minister Neru, known to have been a fervent Gandhi supporter.March 2008: China violently represses peaceful Tibetan demonstrations commemorating the failed 1959 uprising. Official media figures report about 130 people killed following the consequent protests as hundreds of panzer surround the major monasteries. The Dalai Lama immediately makes a plea to the world, referring to cultural genocide.
Different countries disdain the behaviour of the Chinese regime, placing the global spotlight on China with the approaching Olympic Games, but none of them take an official position. French president Nicholas Sarkozy announces he will boycott the opening ceremony, while US Speaker of the House of Representatives Mrs. Nancy Pelosi condemns Beijing’s decisions and draws criticism from Chinese president Hu Jintao.
The peaceful Tibetan exiles protest across the communities where they reside in India, but its pulsing heart is in MacLeod Ganj in Dharamsala, home to the Tibetan government-in-exile. Hundreds of youngsters and seniors along with monks and nuns from the local monasteries and nunneries peacefully march on the streets of Dharamsala and Macleod Ganj, singing the praises of the Dalai Lama and of freedom lost. Many of them also escaped from Tibet through the harsh Himalayan terrain trying to find a better life in an environment similar to their native one. Young students supported by a good number of nuns begin a hunger strike to commemorate the deaths and urge some kind of a response from public opinion.
The pride of a population deprived of its motherland is clashing against the mighty Olympic machine fuelled by the increasing worldwide interest in and reliance on China, the new global manufacturer. A peaceful approach toward a drastic situation is a clear example of fortitude over any kind of brute strength from a regime whose president studied in a famous American university and is known to be an innovative leader. A non violent drag force will always triumph over military repression and will trigger a positive chain of events not letting the world’s citizens remain indifferent. Let's all give these silent heroes visibility, we have a lot to learn from these peaceful hooligans without forgetting how huge is the human life potential: HOPE IS STILL ALIVE!!! FREE TIBET!!! There is nothing against the valiant Chinese population to whom I EXPRESS MY SOLIDARITY for the victims of the earthquake. IT IS ALL ABOUT LIVING TOGETER CREATING VALUE DAY AFTER DAY.
